- Replacement CO2 laser tube
- 40W · 700mm long
- Fits K40-size CO2 lasers
A plain 40W glass tube in the exact size the K40's rear bay was built around, shipped with its leads already on. It is a simple swap part, and the care you take on install and current decides how long it lasts.
The SenTECH tube is 700mm long and 50mm across, which is the size the K40 was designed around. Trust that over any claim on the box. A longer tube means cutting a hole in the side of the case or fitting an extension box, and a fatter one will not sit in the stock saddles.
Open the rear lid and measure what you have. Most K40s carry a 700mm tube, but a few boxes shipped with odd sizes, and the only number that counts is the one on your tape.
SenTECH tests each tube before it leaves the factory and connects the leads for you. That saves you the fiddliest job of the swap, which is wrapping and sealing the high-voltage joint. It does not save you from checking which lead is which. See the K40 tube and power supply guide for the full pinout before you start.
Weigh the old tube's condition too. A tube that lases weakly but still strikes may only need clean optics and fresh water, while a cracked jacket, a pale white discharge where the usual purple-pink glow should be, or no strike at all points to replacement. Rule out the cheap causes before you spend on glass.

A K40 power supply builds high voltage for the tube and can hold a charge after you switch it off. Unplug the machine from the wall, not just the front switch, and give it several minutes. Then treat every wire in the tube bay as live until you have proved otherwise.
Work in this order and do not skip ahead because the new tube is sitting on the bench looking tempting.
Fit the hoses so the water jacket fills from the lower connection and leaves by the higher one. Tilt or rotate the tube gently until every air bubble has cleared from the water jacket. A trapped bubble over the discharge channel creates a hot spot and can crack the glass in minutes.
Only when the water is flowing, the lid is shut and your 10600nm safety glasses are on should you test fire.
SenTECH calls this an upgraded version with more stable power and a longer life, but publishes no rated current or hours. Take that as a reason to run it gently. On any 40W glass tube, current and water temperature are the two things that decide whether it lasts a season or several years.
The K40 community's working rule is to keep a 40W tube well below its maximum current. Most owners stay around 15mA or lower for everyday work and treat anything near 18mA as a short burst at most. If your K40 has only a digital percentage display, fit an analog milliamp meter in the return lead so you can see the real figure.
| Habit | Why it matters for this tube |
|---|---|
| Distilled water or proper laser coolant | Tap water conducts and leaves scale inside the jacket |
| Coolant kept cool, ideally below about 25°C | Output drops and wear rises as the water warms |
| Flow checked before every job | A stalled pump can crack the tube in seconds |
| Moderate current for long cuts | High current shortens tube life fastest |
A bucket and aquarium pump work, but a chiller or a larger reservoir keeps temperature steady through long jobs.
Also remember that a sealed CO2 tube slowly loses gas while it sits in its box. Buy it when you are ready to fit it, not a year early as a spare.
SenTECH says less about its tube than some rivals do. It makes no claim about a catalyst coating or a TEM00 beam mode, and it gives no warranty term, while several other 40W tubes state all three. That does not make it worse, but it means you are buying with less on paper.
Here is how it lines up against the other 700mm-class tubes that fit the K40.
All four run on the same 40W-class power supply, so none of them asks you to change the electrics. If your supply is itself failing, a new tube will not fix weak output, and a tired supply can damage a fresh tube. Test the supply first when the symptoms point that way.
If you want the least paperwork risk, a tube with a written warranty and clear breakage terms is the safer bet. SenTECH does ask buyers to get in touch if a tube arrives broken in transit, so photograph the box and the glass as you unpack, before anything else touches it.
Whichever tube you fit, the beam will land somewhere new on mirror one. Plan on a full mirror realignment afterwards using the K40 alignment walkthrough, and read the upgrade order guide before spending on anything else. A fresh tube feeding dirty or misaligned optics will cut no better than the tired one you pulled out.
It is 700mm long and 50mm across, the standard K40 size. Measure your old tube and bay before ordering, because a few machines shipped with different tubes.
The leads come connected, so you join them to your machine's wiring. Insulate the high-voltage joint properly and confirm the polarity before firing.
SenTECH gives no figure. Most K40 owners keep a 40W tube around 15mA or lower for normal work and avoid running near 18mA for long.
Sealed CO2 tubes slowly lose performance in storage, and Cloudray warns buyers of its own tubes about exactly this. Buy close to when you need it.
